Google Stadia Reviews Arrive With Mixed Reaction

Posted Nov 20, 2019 by DarthHazard

The Google Stadia is set to launch on Tuesday and many gaming sites have started to post their reviews, with a somewhat mixed reaction to the service so far.

The cloud service will let you play a variety of games including Farming Simulator 2019 and even Red Dead Redemption 2, with many other titles set to be released throughout the next few months.

The premise of the service from Google is to allow players to stream the games that they buy but don’t expect the same quality or experience as you would with a high-end PC or games console. According to Verge, the service is still essentially “a beta”, and if you’re looking for a service that isn’t going to frustrate you, it may be better to wait until 2020 when Google decides to fix the current issues.

If you want to try out or play around with Google Stadia, you will need to spend $130 and then $10 a month after the initial three-month trial. Of course, that’s not including the prices for the individual games you want to play on the service. The service is also somewhat limited in terms of games you can play with only 22 titles including Rise of the Tomb Raider, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Trials Rising. This increased from the initial 12 titles that were previously announced.

At a later date in 2020, Google Stadia will become a free service (although you will still need to pay for the games you want to play). That will also see the number of available games increase to around 44 including Cyberpunk 2077!

And at a further date, even after that, you will eventually get the full list of features available to you including:

  • The ability to share a link to an exact moment in a game so that your friends and followers can resume from that point.
  • The ability for Streamers to allow viewers to join their games.
  • And the ability to click on a games YouTube ad and play it right away.

Are you looking forward to Google Stadia? Will you be trying out the service when it launches tomorrow? Let us know in the comments below.
