Fortnite Update Overhauls Map Tommorow For PC, PS4 & Xbox One

The first big update for Fortnite is set to be released tomorrow and with it comes a huge overhaul of the Battle Royale map.
Similarly to previous releases of updates, Epic has released the patch for the new update the day before. The update will be available to download on January 18 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And with it comes the huge map overhaul revealed to players earlier (and in the video below). Brand new points of interests, most located on the western side of the map, are being added including a brand new city area, underground mines and a motel. The various "biomes" around the map have also been updated "enriching the environment and personalizing each area".
Some Battle Pass bonuses have also been announced with Season 2 Battle Pass owners receiving a free 5 tier head start in the next season. A special bundle has also been added to the store that will allow players to buy "ten Battle Pass tiers for the price of six".
The patch notes for update 2.2.0 also states several changes, bug fixes and improvements that have been made to the game, the biggest change being the removal of friendly fire for both Duos and Squad games. The simple change was largely due to the increasing number of times players would team-kill others deliberately. However "this is exploratory and subject to change" with Epic closely evaluating this alongside user feedback.
After feedback from the community, the Scoped AR has also been removed from Supply Drops. The scope of the weapon has also been updated with the old arrow reticle being replaced with a "more modern design" so that it is much "easier to tell where you are aiming and where your crosshair actually is".
The full patch notes can be found on the Epic Games' website here. Are you looking forward to exploring the new points of interest added to Fortnite?
