Fortnite Celebrates Batman’s 80th Anniversary

If you didn’t know already, it’s Batman’s 80th anniversary and Fortnite have found the best way to celebrate such an occasion.

The Bat-Signal has appeared over the Island of Fortnite and players will have from now until the 6th of October to celebrate this anniversary.

Continuing on the story of Season 10, a brand new Rift Zone (in the area of Tilted Town) has brought Gotham City to the Island. This new point of interest will “let you be the hero the citizens of Gotham City need” by providing you with your very own Batman Cape and Glider Redeploy ability whilst in the area.

But that’s not it. “Being a hero is even more fun when you have some wonderful toys at your disposal” and the Fortnite team has brought the Batman Grapnel Gun and Explosive Batarang to the game, both of which will be Mythic items.

The Batman Grapnel Gun will allow players to launch towards the point of impact in a flat arc and then “at the apex of the launch, the player will deploy the Bat Cape, which can be used like any other Glider to traverse great distances”. Each item will have 10 charges included with it.

The Explosive Batarang can be thrown out in a relatively flat arc and will home in towards any opponents nearby. Once in close proximity to an opponent, it will explode dealing 50 damage to any players and 200 damage to the environment. However, if it impacts the environment, it will stick to that spot and then act as a proximity mine instead.

Unlike previous collaborations, Fortnite has decided to give us proper hero suits which are now available to purchase from the Store. The Batman Caped Crusader Pack will include Batman-themed cosmetics and the Batman Comic Book & Dark Knight Movie outfit. This pack will be available to purchase until the 6th of October. A Catwoman outfit has also been included in the Shop alongside some other Batman-themed items.

If you are suffering from a lack of v-Bucks, free challenges have been released and will be available until the 1st of October. These challenges will see you rescuing the island from danger and will reward you with a variety of items including the Catwing Glider and some sprays.
