Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed To September 2020

Bad news for anyone that was looking forward to playing Cyberpunk 2077 in just a few months. CD Projekt Red has announced that they will be delaying the game from the 16th of April to the 17th of September.

The announcement came in the form of an official tweet from the CD Projekt Red account stating that there was “still work to be done”. “Night City is massive — full of stories, content, and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing, and polishing. We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation, and postponing launch will give us the precious months we need to make the game perfect.”

Fans will have a mixed reaction to the announcement, but many will agree that a delay is usually good for a game the size of this project. The game, which has been under development since around 2013, will have been a large project for the developers. Furthermore, the game is “currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable”.

This delay looks like it might set back the release of the multiplayer portion of the game as well. That was set to be released a little while after the initial game release. CD Projekt Red has promised to share regular updates on their progress as we get closer to that September release date.

Are you happy with the news of the delay? And do you think it was right for CD Projekt Red to delay the game? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
