Belgian Gaming Commision to Investigate Battlefront 2

As if EA haven't suffered enough from all the bad PR that came from the issue with unlocking heroes and loot boxes in Star Wars Battlefront II, the Belgian Gaming Commission will now be investigating the game to find out whether the loot boxes could be considered as gambling.

VTM News claims that the Belgian Gaming Commision will be investigating whether or not the loot boxes in Battlefront 2 can fall under the gambling category. Peter Naessens, director of the Belgian Gaming Commission, states that since you do not know what you are getting in return from the loot boxes, you are actually gambling. "If there is a game of chance, that can not be done without the permission of the Chancellor Commission".

If the investigation does go against EA then they may be required to pay a large fine or in the worst scenario, stop selling the game. Could this be the end of loot boxes in games?
