The Xbox Series X Is Just One Of Many Next-Gen Consoles

When Microsoft officially unveiled the Xbox Series X, many fans were left somewhat underwhelmed and confused by their choice of its name.

But Microsoft has gone ahead and clarified the name to the fans unsure of its name and what it means for the next generation of Microsoft consoles.

Many believed that variations of the next generation of consoles would result in keywords being added to the Xbox Series X. Microsoft has quashed this claim by revealing that the Xbox Series X is just the name of the first version of the console. And what is the name for the next generation consoles coming out in 2020? Xbox.

The news was revealed in an interview with Business Inside where a Microsoft representation stated that “the name we're carrying forward to the next generation is simply Xbox”.

“And at The Game Awards, you saw that name come to life through the Xbox Series X. Similar to what fans have seen with previous generations, the name 'Xbox Series X' allows room for additional consoles in the future."

As with the Xbox One, fans should expect a few different variations of the Xbox family. Maybe we will get to see a smaller design of the Xbox Series X and maybe even an all-digital version.

We may not have to wait too long to find out what other console joins the Xbox Series X. Rumours have been circulating that a new less powerful console will be released. Codenamed Project Lockhart, the disc-less console will be more powerful than the Xbox One All-Digital console but less powerful than the Series X.

Are you looking forward to the release of the Xbox Series X? And would you ever consider getting a slightly less powerful version of it? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
