Season X Arrives In Style On Fortnite Battle Royale

The newest season of Fortnite Battle Royale has arrived upon the island and “whether you’re nostalgic for the past or excited for the future, there will be plenty for you to discover all Season long”.

For players that have been playing Fortnite since it’s initial release, a variety of familiar point of interests have begun to appear again on the island although “they aren’t the same as they once were…”

Fortnite - Season X Overview Trailer

As with every new season, a brand new Battle Pass has also arrived. Costing 950 V-Bucks, the Battle Pass will allow you to unlock over 100 exclusive rewards including the X-Lord and Catyst outfits, dual pickaxes and the Ultima Knight Outfit at Tier 100.

Arriving with the Battle Pass are Missions. With Missions, you can unlock rewards as you go about completing thematic objectives “that will send you on adventures across the island”. Missions seem to have replaced Daily Challenges in the game although nothing has been confirmed as yet on the Patch Notes. This seems to have created somewhat of a problem for a few players that purchased the Breakpoint bundle from the Shop. This bundle had a few challenges that allowed players to earn v-bucks for completing daily challenges, which many were completing in order to fund their Battle Pass purchase. However, with missions now being Battle Pass exclusive, many are unable to complete the challenges to actually go ahead and buy the Battle Pass. Here’s to hoping that Epic simply forgot about helping out these users and haven’t purposefully done it to force such users to spend more to buy the Pass.

What else is new with Season X?

B.R.U.T.E

A brand new mech suit has landed on the island. The two-person vehicle will have one player controlling the movement of the suit whilst the other player controls its firepower - a shotgun and 10 missiles. The brave can operate the suit solo but you will be required to keep switching positions if you want to shoot/move.

Rift Zones

Point of interests from previous seasons that were lost to various events have begun to appear again. Players can drop in to explore the locations although players will have to keep an eye out for “mysterious gameplay changes”.

Vaulting

As with most patches, a few items have been vaulted which for Season X includes: the Baller, Quad Crasher, Flint Knock Pistol, Shadow Bomb, Semi-Auto Sniper, Tactical Assault Rifle, Mounted Rifle (is anyone really going to miss this?), Air Strike and the Itemized Glider Redeploy.

Glider Redeploy will still be available in larger team modes though.

“Over time, we have added many mobility options, both itemized and map-based. We feel that Season X is better experienced with a reduction in mobility. As with all changes, we’ll keep a close eye on how this affects the player experience.”

Old Emotes

The Ride the Pony Emote that players have already unlocked from a previous season has now been converted to a traversal emote. Additionally, players that unlocked the Ride the Pony Emote from the S2 Battle Pass have been gifted a new traversal emote: Pony Up!
