Psyonix Announces Their Acquisition by Epic Games

Earlier today, Psyonix, the studio behind a very popular sport game Rocket League has announced that they’re joining the Epic Games family.
“Today is a big day for us here at Psyonix because, just as the headline says, we’re officially joining the Epic Games family.”
They continue with reassuring fans of the game that this acquisition will not impact the game, but rather just increase the possible outreach of the Rocket League community thanks to Epic Games and their resources. Of course they didn't neglect to express their gratitude toward the fans for their continued support over the years.
They closed up their announcement with a footnote explaining that acquisition is still subject to customary closing conditions and that it should be closed by the end of May or early June 2019.
What are your thoughts on this acquisition and/or the overall strategy that Epic Games seems to have taken, seemingly in order to usurp the throne from Valve and Steam?

This just makes me scared of what will happen to the game on Steam.
