The latest Fortnite Patch (V9.21) has arrived and with it arrives the latest weapon to be added, the Proximity Grenade Launcher.

The new weapon will allow players to fire an “arcing, bouncing, explosive projectile that explodes when in proximity of an opponent”. Available in Epic and Legendary rarities and found from chests, loot carriers, supply drops and vending machines, the weapon will deal 67/70 damage to players and 131/138 environmental damage. The projectiles once fired will explode automatically after 10 seconds or if it has nearly come to a stop.

In other major additions, players can expect to see a brand new limited time mode arriving very soon as well. Dubbed Horde Rush, the LTM will see players battle again Fortnite Fiends who have returned to the island alongside 3 teammates. The mode will be divided into multiple stages, with the ability to prepare a particular area for the upcoming horde by searching for weapons & items, scavenging materials and building defences.

Points for the mode will be gained by fighting the Fiends that approach you, collecting various score multipliers and destroying Fiend spawners. Players will be able to respawn next to their teammates until the final stage where they will be required to beat a Boss Fiend and his horde of minions.

In more minor changes with this patch, the shield and small shield potion have had their availability from chest loot increased from 11.3% to 12.09% and 16.95% to 18.13% respectively.

“With items being added and removed, we’ve noticed that Shield Potions and Small Shields have been less available in Chests. So we’ve increased the chance to find Shields from Chests to compensate for that.”

The availability of all shotguns from floor loot has also been increased from 8.50% to 9.77%.

“After seeing the community’s feedback about Shotgun availability, we’ve increased the Shotgun availability from Floor Loot to make finding them in the early phases of the game easier.”

After having been released just recently, the Storm Flip has already been nerfed. The throwable will now only deal flat damage of 5 damage per second rather than being based on which Storm Phase is currently active.

“We noticed with scaling damage that players held onto their Storm Flip later into matches, creating undesirable effects. This change gives players more value in using it earlier in matches.”
