Play At Home Initiative Announced By Sony

As we spend more time at home due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Sony has decided to start a Play At Home Initiative for players stuck at home.

To help people all over the world that are helping to contain the spread of COVID-19, Sony wants to “take our responsibility as a home entertainment platform seriously”. Therefore, they are trying to play their “part to lessen the impact of this pandemic” by providing two free games.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey will be available to download and keep for free from the 15th of April until the 5th of May. The download will be available through Digital Downloads on the PlayStation Store.

The Nathan Drake Collection will feature Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. “We can’t imagine a better time for globe-trotting adventures with Nathan Drake, an iconic cast of characters, and thrilling treasure-hunting action gameplay.”

Journey will provide players with a “beautiful, celebrated adventure that is as moving as it is mysterious”.

Unfortunately for many PS Plus members, this won’t be as exciting as both the Nathan Drake Collection and Journey have been previously available as PSN Monthly Games.

That’s not the only help Sony are providing either. Sony understands that independent developers are “vital to the heart and soul of the gaming community”. Therefore, a fund has been created with over $10 million available as support to their independent development partners.

Information regarding this and how to apply for it will be available later on.
