Next Generation PlayStation Launch Window Confirmed

Sony has today confirmed a variety of details related to the next generation console, including its official name, a launch window and a few details on the new controller.
Previously, details had been unveiled in April of this year but now, we finally found out a lot more about the new console – named the PlayStation 5 (is anyone really surprised?).
It was also confirmed that the console will be released in time for holiday 2020 so expect a release date around November 2020 (the PS4 also came out in November), just in time for the Christmas period.
But the information that many gamers will be salivating over will be the new details around the PlayStation 5’s controller. The “rumble” technology that has been used for a while now with PlayStation controllers will be replaced with haptic feedback. The aim of this is to give gamers a “broader range of feedback, so crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on the football field. You can even get a sense for a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plodding through mud”.
It was also revealed that adaptive triggers would be introduced with this new controller. Integrated into the trigger buttons (also known as L2 and R2), this will give gamers the feel of resistance of the triggers which will allow them to “feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain”.
These changes and innovations in the controller will help to provide an experience for gamers that “better simulates various actions”.
It seems that developers have already been getting early versions of the new controller so expect to see some launch games to take advantage of these wonderful features.
