Since the launch of Need for Speed: Payback, users have been complaining about the lack of online free roam and it seems EA have listened.

EA have announced that online free roam will finally be coming to Need for Speed Payback in 2018. Very little information was released about the addition of online free roam and a release date is yet to be confirmed. It's no surprise that the feature has finally been added, this isn't the first time that EA has had to deal with fan pressure with the progression of the game being previously complained about.

The new game mode will finally allow racers to roam around Fortune Valley with friends or random players without having to enter into a racing event. The game currently only allows racers to roam freely around the map whilst waiting for a racing event to fill up with other players.
