Fortnite Players May Encounter Server Issues This Week

Two major CPU bugs, "Meltdown" and "Spectre" that have been troubling certain Intel processors will result in server issues for Fortnite this week.

The two CPU bugs can be exploited to allow hackers to gain access to various sensitive data which has resulted in many companies to take action to ensure that these bugs can be taken advantage of. And Epic Games have shared in a post on their website that some of the recent login and service issues many Fortnite players experienced were due to ongoing security updates for these two CPU bugs.

“All of our cloud services are affected by updates required to mitigate the Meltdown vulnerability. We heavily rely on cloud services to run our back-end and we may experience further service issues due to ongoing updates.”

"Unexpected issues may occur with our services over the next week as the cloud services we use are updated. We are working with our cloud service providers to prevent further issues and will do everything we can to mitigate and resolve any issues that arise as quickly as possible. Thank you all for understanding. Follow our twitter @FortniteGame for any future updates regarding this issue."

And unfortunately due to the fact that this affects the game's back-end, the login and server issues have been affecting Fortnite players on all platforms including PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Have you encountered any of these problems recently with Fortnite?
