The latest Fortnite content update (v.10.10) arrives today and with it arrives a brand new consumable that might prove to be a worthy counter to the B.R.U.T.E.

The Junk Rift has arrived with this update and players will need to make sure to keep an eye out on the skies the next time they get into a battle. “You can now deal with opponents by dropping heavy things on them”. With this brand new Junk Rift, you will be able to summon anchors, cars and “more to fall from the sky”.

The new throwable consumable will break on contact and will spawn a large object in the sky that will then fall to the ground. The object that falls to the ground will deal damage to players and anything in its way and will also create a small shockwave once it hits the ground that will both damage players and destroys anything and everything in the small radius.

If you are hit directly with the object, 200 damage will be dealt and players will also be knocked backward slightly. A shockwave hit after initial contact will deal 100 damage. Vehicles and any destructible objects will be destroyed immediately if they are hit by either the direct hit or shockwave hit.

For Epic Games, this will look like a great counter to the B.R.U.T.E which many players feel have been a bad addition to the game, especially for competitive matches. However, we will have to wait and see how the Junk Rift affects B.R.U.T.E’s especially considering they aren’t likely to be stationary and wait for a large object to fall on them.

In other changes to Battle Royale, another map change has occurred. This time, the Rift Beacon at the Rec Center has malfunctioned which has caused an explosion and created “Glitched Consumables”.

These Glitched Consumables “randomly switch between different forageable items from the past” and includes:

• Apples which grant 5 health
• Mushrooms which grant 5 shield
• Coconut which grant 5 effective health (health + shield)
• Peppers which increases player movement speed for a while
• Hop rocks which decreases player gravity for a while
• And Shadow Stones which “turns players into a ghost for a short time, temporarily increasing their movement speed slightly and letting them dash through structures.”

Players that purchased the Green Toy Wrap for their weapons will be eligible for a refund without the need for a Refund Token. This is due to the wrap being updated alongside the Green Toy Skins. Make sure to refund the bundle within 30 days from your next login.
