Fortnite Chapter 2 Introduces Brand New Map

Posted Oct 15, 2019 by DarthHazard

Rest at ease fellow gamers because it took a while but Fortnite is finally back online and with it arrives Chapter 2 and some amazing new additions.

The biggest arrival with Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 2, Season 1 is the brand new map. For those of you that were keeping up with the leaks, this is the same map that was leaked earlier, which in fact many thought was fake and a bad “photoshop”.

A few favorite locations have managed to survive being sucked into the black hole. The full list of locations is as follows: Beachy Buffs, Pleasant Park, Sunny Shores, Salty Springs, Frenzy Farm, Holly Hedges, Slurpy Swamp, Lazy Lake, Retail Row, Dirty Docks, Power Plants and Weeping Woods.

The map features a lot more mountainous areas and water features (including rivers, lakes and even beaches). These areas will be perfect for gamers looking to try out the brand new swim and dive mechanic that has been added to the game. Simply run into the water and you will now swim. You can also choose to dive for a few seconds.

Certain areas in the water will have fish that you can go fishing for. You will require a fishing rod that can be obtained from a chest or as floor loot and can be used to catch the fish, which once consumed will provide you with health or shield.

Another new addition to this season is the introduction of motorboats. With a large number of areas covered in water, you can now use the motorboats to traverse quickly across the map.

Of course, before all of this, you will notice the graphics and updated UI first. The graphics have had a huge revamp to look cleaner and more vibrant. The in-game UI has had a slight update but not too much where it will look unusual.

One small change that will have a huge impact is the ability to carry players. And yes, you can even carry enemies that have been downed. Once a player is downed, go near them and you will be able to lift them up. You can then choose to either take them to safety or take them somewhere else to drop them off.

Last season, players were able to hide as a prop in certain parts of the map. And that has continued on to this season. Players can choose to hide in certain props such as hay bales and then jump out on unexpecting enemies.

The full patch notes haven’t been released at yet, most likely to ensure that gamers experience everything themselves without having anything spoiled by reading the patch notes. We should expect to see them posted on the Fortnite blog within the next few days and we will be posting all the new additions and updates as we come across them right here on Hive Gamurs.

Are you looking forward to dropping in on the new island? And what is your favourite addition to Fortnite Chapter 2? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
