Fortnite Battle Royale Update Adds Split Screen

Posted Dec 12, 2019 by DarthHazard

Many players would have already known about this as it was revealed earlier but we now have confirmation that the latest Battle Royale update has added Split Screen.

Split Screen will be available for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will you to play either Duos or Squads with a local friend. The developers have stated though that this is still an “early release of Split Screen” therefore there will be bugs and continuous improvements being made to it.

Players with Fortnite on their mobile devices will now be able to preview items that have been added to the Item Shop. With the Party Hub feature, you can now see the Item Shop without having to load into the game. To try this out, simply open the Party Hub, swipe right and then click on “Preview Items”. Players will still need to open up the full game if they wish to make a purchase.

In other minor changes, the daily Item Shop gifting limit has been increased to 5 from the previous limit of 3. Additionally, the ammo indicator has been modified to now have a visual representation of the remaining number of ammo. Players can also choose when to see their end-of-match XP screen by pressing “Continue”.

And as we get ready for the Christmas holidays, Fortnite has made some changes to the map. A new landmark called Shiver Inn has been added to the map. A whole host of ice machines have also been added which provide players with some free loot. And if that isn’t enough, winter-style houses and Christmas bushes have also arrived on the map.

The new events don’t just stop there. This Saturday (14th of December) at around 2 PM ET, never before seen footage of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be showcased live at Risky Reels. So “grab some popcorn and watch the exclusive scene in-game ahead of the movie’s release, only in Fortnite”. Make sure to drop into the game early though as the doors will open at 1:30 PM ET.

Are you looking forward to the Christmas celebrations on Fortnite? And will you be attending the special live event? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
