CS:GO Battle Royale Update Adds Ping System & New Map

Posted May 03, 2019 by DarthHazard

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Danger Zone, the Battle Royale mode for the popular game has brought a ping system, a map and other additions with its latest update.

Dubbed Sirocco, the update brings with it a new map (also named Sirocco) that will replace the Blacksite map, which will be unavailable for the foreseeable future from official matchmaking for Danger Zone. The map, set in the Middle East, will allow players to enjoy the game mode in a classic desert theme and will feature “wide open spaces”.

“Sirocco brings a whole new experience to Danger Zone. Brave the wide open spaces, or use stealth to navigate kasbahs, towns, and intricate underground passages.”

Following on from Apex Legends and Fortnite Battle Royale, it seems that Valve has little time for creative sessions after taking the respawn and ping system and putting it right into Danger Zone. As long as your squad players survive between zones moving, dead players will be able to redeploy anywhere on the map. The ping system will add a new radial to make communication between team members easier without using voice chat.

The update also brings new items including the Exojump Boots which will help players increase their jump height and movement speed “allowing players access to advantageous positions”. Bump Mines have also been added which will “send your opponents flying”, Valve also plans to add a Drone Pilot which will allow players to “Gather intel on your enemies from a distance, or just steal their supplies” although a release date for it has not been confirmed as yet.

Various bonus money events will also arrive in the game in future updates.

The final addition with this update are Starting Perks which will allow players to choose starting kits before a Danger Zone match begins. Kits including tasers, parachutes, health shots and the new exojump boots.

Furthermore, changes have been made to the starting ammo count of weapons after several requests by fans.

The popular first-person shooter added the Battle Royale mode to the game last year hoping to cash in on the rapidly rising popularity of Battle Royale games with the launch of Fortnite Battle Royale. Whilst it hasn’t taken the world by storm like Apex Legends and Fortnite Battle Royale, it has proved somewhat popular with current CS:GO players.
