After a lot of leaks and teasing, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has finally been officially confirmed and gamers have finally received some much-needed information about the upcoming game.

The game will arrive on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on the 25th of October. And there are quite a few surprising bits of information that has already been confirmed for the game. Cross-platform play will be available from launch which will allow players to game with other platform gamers. Additionally, a season pass will not be available for a Call of Duty game for the first time!

The lack of a season pass for the upcoming game is a move that Activision hopes will mean more free maps, free content and post-launch events can be enjoyed by all players of the game.

With many players missing the traditional single player campaigns from previous Call of Duty games, Activision has decided to bring back the single player campaign alongside several multiplayer modes and a brand new co-op mode.

The single player campaign is believed to be set around various different European cities and the Middle East with players having the ability to fight as special forces soldiers or freedom fighters with access to improvised weapons.

“The stakes have never been higher as players take on the role of lethal Tier One operators in a heart-racing saga that will affect the global balance of power. Developed by the studio that started it all, Infinity Ward delivers an epic reimagining of the iconic Modern Warfare® series from the ground up.”

Information regarding a potential Battle Royale has yet to be confirmed although we are expected to get some information on whether or not one will be present in the game over the next few months.

The game will be a Battle.net exclusive on PC and there will be three editions for players to pre-order from today including the standard ($60), operator ($80 with premium digital items) and operator enhanced edition ($100 with digital items and COD points).
