The multiplayer part of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was revealed earlier and fans will finally have a chance to play themselves with the first open alpha this weekend on PlayStation 4.

The announcement by developer Infinity Ward confirmed that players will have the chance to test out the multiplayer, more specifically the brand new 2v2 mode that will be arriving with this iteration of Call of Duty.

The open alpha will feature the 2v2 mode and 5 maps which will include Speedball, King, Pine, Docks and Stack. This open alpha will be playable from the 23rd of August until the 25th of August.

But this weekend won’t be the only time that fans will have a chance of playing Modern Warfare early. The upcoming betas that have already been scheduled include:

Weekend 1

  • 12th September to 13th September (PS4 Early Access)
  • 14th September to 16th September (PS4 Open Beta)

Weekend 2

  • 19th September to 20th September (Early Access Xbox One & PC. PS4 Open Beta)
  • 21st September to 23rd September (PS4, Xbox One & PC Open Beta)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released on the 25th of October and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Although it features the same name as Modern Warfare from 2007, the game is not simply a remake but a “re-imagining” of the game.
