After a somewhat positive response from fans after playing with the beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the game has come under fire recently in relation to the PS4 exclusive Spec Ops Survival mode.

It was recently revealed that Survival mode would be exclusive to the PS4 until the 1st of October 2020. That would mean PC and Xbox One users would not be able to play the mode for almost a whole year.

This decision would have been made thanks to a timed deal with Sony and Activision although even PS4 players are not too happy with the exclusivity citing that they will not be able to play with anyone on other platforms.

Infinity Ward’s Taylor Kurosaki responded to the complaints from fans, stating that they do their “best every day to give our players the best experience possible”.

"There are decisions that are above all of our pay grades that have to be considered. I understand your feelings, but this is much better than others I have seen."

And trying to get back on the fans good side, he confirmed that Survival would be the only portion of the game that is locked for a period of time and stated that it was simply a “sliver of Spec Ops”.

It wasn’t just Twitter where the complaints were coming from either, many complaints were aimed at the developers on the Modern Warfare subreddit and it prompted a response from Joel Emslie, studio art director for Infinity Ward who wanted to ask fans to think about what they say.

The Reddit post confirmed that the complaints are “all being heard, all of it”. Additionally, he went on to state – “My ask of all of you is to focus on information that is actually fact and not get thrown off by ill-informed people that want to make a name for themselves by spreading half baked inflammatory rumors”. This seems to be in response to leaks that weapon loot boxes will be added to the game at some point in the future although we will have to wait and see whether the developers are right or if the leakers have got their findings right.
