EA has announced the official start date for Season 5 of Apex Legends and it’s a little later than most players would have been expecting.

The new season will now kick off on the 12^th of May and was announced via the Apex Legends official blog on the EA site.

The developers have made this decision to help players finish their Battle Pass and potentially “hit that next level of Ranked”.

Respawn Entertainment will be released a brand new limited-time mode called Battle Armour to help players keep busy until the new season kicks off. The mode will take place on World’s Edge and will “evolve over 14 days in the lead up to Season 5, with a new twist on armour every few days”.

This mode will see players drop into the match with one armour type already equipped. They will also drop with a P2020. No other armour will be available to be picked up as loot. However, shield cells and batteries, “as well as all the other sweet, sweet loot, will still be available”.

When the mode launches on the 28^th of April, Level 1 (White) armour will be the only armour you have. From the 2^nd of May, it will be the turn of Level 2 (Blue) armour. From the 6^th of May until the 9^th of May, you will kick off the match with Level 3 (Purple) armour. And finally, from the 9^th of May until the 12^th of May, players will drop with Evo Armour only.
