Air Royale LTM Arrives With Latest Fortnite Patch

Patch V8.40 has arrived on Fortnite and the patch brings with it a new weapon variety, some great new limited time modes and fixes to bugs.
The weapons, which were revealed earlier through the Fortnite in-game announcement screen, will be the Epic and Legendary variants of the Infantry Rifle. Players will be able to deliver accurate fire downrange with the semi-automatic weapon that will deal 42/44 (headshot) damage and will be using medium ammo.
The addition that most users will be looking forward to will be the two brand new limited time modes, one of which has been a popular suggestion on the Fortnite subreddit for a while now. Air Royale will be a duos-only mode that will see players “climb aboard a plane and take to the skies in this fast-paced mode where players fight to be the last one flying”.
Each plane (shared between two players) will have 3 lives and players will respawn with their plane until they lose all their lives. Players will need to make sure they stay off the ground as the plane will explode if they stay on the ground too long and players will instantly be eliminated if they touch the ground. Although, make sure you don’t go too high as the storm will have a ceiling that gradually lowers as the match progresses.
Don’t worry about weapons as simply flying through chests that fall from the sky will award you with various weapons and ammo to shoot other players and planes with. Additionally, floating repair kits will be available to both repair the plane and refill players with health & shield.
For those looking for a rewarding experience, free challenges will be available for the limited time game mode that will award you with some wraps.
The other limited time mode is a twist on the classic Food Fight LTM which players will have enjoyed previously. Changes include lava now steadily rising up from the ground. The restaurants housing the mascots will also now be much higher which will now require players to build up to them instead of simply dropping down on them.
As ever, seasonal weapon skin changes have been made with the grenade launcher being replaced (only visually) by the Egg Launcher, just in time for Easter.
In more important changes, players will also now be able to pet their pets (backpacks).
